About The Building
| Hotel aan de Dam is located in a building that is officially called d' Oude Meule (old mill). According to the history the house was built under architect Jacob van Campen, for a board member of the VOC in 1652. Jacob van Campen is the architect of the famous Palace on the Dam Square in Amsterdam and is known for his own style, the Dutch Classicism. In the building many details from that period are still preserved. The classification is virtually untouched and so all rooms are different in size and decoration. The bathrooms are modern and are, depending on the space there was, equipped with a shower or a bath. Five authentic Suites and two rooms are sittuated on the ground and first floor. The four more modern hotelrooms are on he second floor. By stairs, both floors are well accessible. With care and attention we have decorated the rooms with the aim of a cozy, homey ambiance, where you not only come to sleep, but also relax and experience the wealth of that period. |
